"Hammer" Xing Chen (Chinese: 陈兴, Chén Xìng) is the Chinese Red Army General.

Description[]

Chen's military career started with him as just another one among thousands of blindly naive, utterly expendable Red Guard infantrymen. His trial-by-fire came in 2019, when a then obscure Central Asian fundamentalist group known as the GLA detonated a five kiloton tactical nuclear device in Beijing during the grand military parade in celebration of the People's Republic's 70th anniversary. Chen was a member of a rapid response force that was among the first PLA units called to the scene where he witnessed untold horrors that would continue to haunt him for the rest of his life: With thousands of soldiers and civilians incinerated, Tiananmen Square turned into a glassy crater and the Forbidden City completely leveled, the GLA had stepped into the limelight of history and kicked off a conflict that would go on for the better part of the decade, changing China and the rest of the world forever.

Subsequently, Chen was at the forefront of countless bloody battles, ranging from Downtown Hong Kong over the destruction of the Three Gorges Dam to the frozen mountains of the Himalayas which he only survived by a combination of sharp senses, an iron will and sheer luck. His resilience and fanaticism to hunt the GLA to hell and back impressed his commanders who soon turned him into a heroic figure in military propaganda stories and put him on a fast track for promotions.

Now, more than two decades later, Chen stands at the top of his own army, commanding thousands upon thousands of brave young men much like himself back in the day to restore China's honor after the debacle against the Russian forces at Kurmuk. With the Russo-European War at its height, the Party government is still contemplating whether to deliver a striking blow at Russia's unprotected eastern territories and General Chen would be the one who's going to lead the charge.
